We therefore assess the existing condition carefully, identify areas requiring repair and prepare the surface appropriately before decoration begins. This may include removing loose or flaking paint, filling and repairing defective areas, stabilising surfaces where required and applying appropriate primers or base coats before the final exterior paint system is applied.

On Victorian and Georgian properties, this approach becomes particularly important. Original proportions, mouldings, cornices, window surrounds and traditional rendered finishes often form a major part of the building's appearance.
